The Personal Story
It started at the dinner table.
My kids started asking questions I wasn’t prepared for. “Why can’t I be on YouTube?” “Why can’t I play Roblox?” “Why can’t I be on Instagram like my friends?”
Every time I said no without a real explanation, the screen became more forbidden, more appealing. That wasn’t keeping them safe β it was just pushing the conversation underground.
I knew the risks better than most parents. I’d spent over 15 years working with global software, technology and cybersecurity companies. I knew exactly what was out there.
So I wrote a book.
The Book β Who is Bob the Blob?
I looked for a book that could help me start this conversation with my kids β something honest, age-appropriate, and actually engaging. There was no Australian children’s book specifically written to teach primary school kids about online safety β fake profiles, online predators, personal information, and why it matters who is really on the other side of the screen.
So I wrote it myself.
Who is Bob the Blob? A story about online safety is now published, available in paperback, hardcover and eBook, and aligned with the Australian National Curriculum for Digital Technologies β Years 2 to 4.
Used in classrooms, school libraries and living rooms across Australia
The Expertise
Why you can trust what’s in this book
I’m not a blogger who read some articles. I work inside the cybersecurity industry every day. For over 15 years I’ve worked as a marketing leader with global software and cybersecurity companies across the APAC region β helping large organisations understand AI-driven cyber threats, data breaches, online risks and how to protect themselves.
I know what the real threats look like. I also know how to translate complex, technical topics into plain language that anyone can understand β it’s what I do professionally.
In short: I bring the cybersecurity expertise. My kids made sure I made it relatable.
The Mission
Why this matters β right now
of Australian children aged 8β12 are already using social media β before they’re legally old enough
have experienced cyberbullying
have encountered grooming-type behaviour online
have been exposed to harmful content online

Most parents feel underprepared. Most teachers feel the same. And most kids are navigating this world without the tools or language to recognise when something isn’t right. That’s the gap I’m here to fill.
